Mike Spiller L.T.D.F (License to Deliver Fun)

2013 MNAHPERD Conference.
Nov 7-8 / 2013 in Plymouth, Minnesota.

Testimonial from Jack Olwell / 2012-13 President Minnesota AHPERD

We have had Mike Spiller’s Games of the World at our state conference on several occasions and this year’s session was the highlight of the conference.
It is doubtful there is anyone with a more complete repertoire of activities; his seemingly inexhaustible collection of fun, engaging activities instantly transformed us into eager kids.
A better title for his presentation might be Around the World in Eighty Minutes (although his two hour presentation passed all too quickly) as it seems there is
no culture from which Mike has not mined its best games. One of the first things you notice about Mike’s games is they quickly break down barriers of every type.
While you are absorbed by the many fun, creative challenges it is likely you don’t realize the activities are filled with opportunities in leadership, cooperation, creativity, and decision making.
There is no one like Mike. I can’t wait to have him back.

Good morning.  It was great talking to you about equipment and games.  I presented before you at MNAHPERD.  I wanted to send you a testimonial about why I started making equipment and using them in my games. I went to one of your workshops about 10 years ago in Brooklyn Center or Brooklyn Park called Games of the World.  I was inspired after the workshop.  Not only did I buy one of your books but I also used some of your ideas for my Masters Project through St. Mary’s University.  I have been using some of your games in my class (Achi is one of my favorite games to play).  A light bulb went off in my head on how I can create equipment in my PE classes to help my school offset the costs of things.  I have presented at many different conferences in Minnesota and through many University’s Graduate courses to give my “expertise” in cost effective equipment for schools and Physical Education Teachers.  I am always looking at things and trying to figure out ways that I can create this piece of equipment and how I could use them in a game.  You have inspired me to keep doing what I am doing and I enjoy every minute of it.  I am glad we got to talk about equipment and games that we both have done.
Thank you so much for all the great ideas that you have given to me and so many other people.  This is why I keep doing what I enjoy to do because of your great ideas and energy.
